Created by Sylbee Kim, HYENAZ and Nico Pelzer. Site-specific procession presented at MULTI-ARTS PROJECT II Annyeong! Hello!
Through the aural and visual act of the procession, Spectral Rite explores the architectural condition and the institutional environment of MMCA Seoul. Berlin-based performance duo HYENAZ incarnate as androgynous celestial beings, beautiful monsters, hybrid street peddlers and warriors for justice. Their presence evokes remote yet acquainted spaces, archaic and future tenses, as they appear within the MMCA as familiar strangers.
Adrienne Teicher (she/her) is a composer, producer and a/v artist based in Berlin. Thoughtful, passionate and political, Adrienne’s fundamental concern is in creating soundscapes wherein the boundary between content and form breaks down.
Adrienne is best known for the collaboration HYENAZ with fellow composer, movement artist and producer Kathryn Fischer (aka Mad Kate). The pair have toured extensively to galleries, performances spaces, festivals and clubs across Europe, North America and Asia, including Berlin’s famed Berghain, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, Korea and Sled Island in Calgary, Canada.
In the Summer of 2021 Adrienne will release “INSECURE”, the first EP released under her own name. At times angry, frenetic, mournful and horny, INSECURE is a paean to the fields of uncertainty woven into human existence, a state that has only intensified in recent years.
